Which brings us to the founder of the store, Namita Agrawal, and the story of Sunshine Boulevard. The year was 2010 and she had finally got down to doing up her new home. And as she went around the city in search of fine lighting and home décor, it was her turn to get appalled at every turn. But the 9 years of experience in advertising had prepared Nams (as she is affectionately known in closer circles) to find solutions where there were apparently none. To make sure the need she felt really existed, Namita conducted an extensive research with architects, interior designers and product designers, and every one of them welcomed the idea with glee. And so, instead of making do with what was available, she went on and created what she wanted. Thus was born, Sunshine Boulevard.
"We always desire something different, something unique. But rarely do we manage to find that in Bengaluru, or for that matter, most cities in India" observed Namita. "I had to go through the bother, and then realised, why not set up a shop that offered everyone what they wanted?" True to her fixation for the unique, every single piece at Sunshine Boulevard is either handpicked from artists across India or created at the in-house design incubator. Initially showcasing only lighting elements, the boutique now deals with a wide range of interior décor accessories and design ideas. And the response she gets from the patrons, delights her endlessly. “I thoroughly enjoy the one-on-one interaction with the clients, big project or small. And it makes all the effort worthwhile when the customers come back and tell us that they’re in love with their space all over again after a Sunshine Boulevard makeover”.
Her vision was always about capturing the best of India in her own little space, also providing a truly deserving platform for the country’s talented craftsmen, who are the best at what they do. And the sheer amount of accolades streaming into Sunshine Boulevard proves that it has already seen light.
